The University of Auckland Department of Paediatrics established this annual course in 1988. It provides an intensive two-week review programme specifically designed to support trainees preparing for the FRACP Part 1 Written Examination.
The course is delivered by over 60 experienced paediatric clinicians from Starship Child Health and hospitals throughout New Zealand. Each year, the programme is comprehensively reviewed and updated to reflect current clinical practice and examination trends, combining focused topic reviews with integrated MCQ discussion throughout the course.
The course is offered in a hybrid format, allowing participants to attend either in person or online via Zoom. Most lecture slides are provided electronically, and participants receive access to the dedicated teaching website, where lecture recordings from the course are available throughout the access period until the Divisional Clinical Examination.
Over many years, the programme has developed a strong reputation for its high-quality teaching, practical examination focus, and consistently positive participant feedback. Many trainees have also reported that the course made a valuable contribution to their examination preparation and success.
To maximise participant engagement and support, places for the in-person attendance option are limited. As the course is frequently oversubscribed, early registration is strongly recommended.
If you have previously received an unsuccessful examination result and are considering enrolling, please contact the Programme Coordinator for further discussion.
